COLBY, Kan. – Perfect opening weekends for NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball top-10 teams Colby Community College and Barton Community College have led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Volleyball Player of the Week honors for Kalotta Kattai, Amanda Caputi, and Mina Kaneko.  

Karlotta Kattai (Colby) - KJCCC D1 Volleyball Player of the Week
Karlotta Kattai delivered a dominant all-around performance this week, leading the Trojans to a perfect opening weekend at the Midland College Classic. Kattai registered 74 kills and averaged an impressive 6.17 kills per set, a mark that leads both the conference and NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball. The sophomore also contributed on the defensive end with 28 digs and four assisted blocks, while adding eight service aces to her stat line. In total, Kattai amassed 84 points and averaged 7.0 points per set, all while hitting at a strong .336 clip to cap off a standout week.

Amanda Caputi (Colby) – KJCCC D1 Volleyball Setter of the Week
Amanda Caputi was a driving force for the Trojans' offense this week, distributing 141 assists across 12 sets to keep the attack running at a high level. The sophomore added seven kills of her own, while contributing 24 digs and three assisted blocks on the defensive side. At the service line, Caputi was equally effective by delivering service eight aces to round out a complete performance and help Colby go 4-0 at the Midland Classic.

Mina Kaneko (Barton) – KJCCC D1 Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Sophomore libero Mina Kaneko picked up where she left last season by averaging 5.43 digs per set over the weekend to help Barton win all four matches of its season-opening tournament at the Garden City Scooter’s Coffee Invitational. Kaneko also contributed nine service aces in her fourteen sets played, in addition to 16 set assists.
