COLBY, Kan. – Strong weekend play from Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference volleyball teams Hutchinson and Barton has led to KJCCC D1 Volleyball Player of the Week awards for Blue Dragon outside hitter Atlyn Proctor, Cougar setter Ori Briger, and Cougar defensive specialist Mina Kaneko.   

Atlyn Proctor (Hutchinson) - KJCCC D1 Volleyball Player of the Week
Blue Dragon sophomore outside hitter Atlyn Proctor hit .287 and averaged 3.20 kills per set in a 3-1 week for Hutchinson at the McCook Labor Day Tournament. Over 15 sets, Proctor had 48 kills on 129 attacks and added three total blocks and a service ace. In Hutchinson's reserve sweep of North Platte on Saturday, Proctor had 17 kills and hit .300 on a career-high 50 attacks. Proctor also hit a career-high .500 in a 15-kill performance against McCook.

Ori Briger (Barton) – KJCCC D1 Volleyball Setter of the Week
Ori Briger directed Barton's 6-2 offensive attack through a six-match week featuring its KJCCC opening victory at Butler, taking on four ranked opponents, including statement victories over number eight Missouri State-West Plains and number 11 New Mexico Military Institute to finish the week at 4-2. Briger totaled 100 assists across 20 sets, averaging 5.0 per set, while also contributing 36 digs, 10 service aces, and a .455 hitting efficiency on limited attempts. The freshman closed out the week with a 24-assist, 10-dig effort, leading Barton's four-set win over NMMI to post her 4th double-double of the season.

Mina Kaneko (Barton) – KJCCC D1 Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Mina Kaneko anchored the number nine-ranked Cougars' back row during a demanding six-match week featuring its KJCCC opening victory at Butler in addition to taking on four ranked opponents, which included statement victories over number eight Missouri State-West Plains and number 11 New Mexico Military Institute to finish the week at 4-2. Racking up 104 digs across 20 sets to average 5.20 digs per set, Kaneko recorded double-digit digs in five of six contests, highlighted by a career best 29 in Barton's four-set win over number 11 NMMI. Kaneko also had 23 against number 14 Eastern Arizona after opening the week with 22 digs in a sweep at Butler.
