COLBY, Kan. – Picking up their first win over Cowley College since March 11, 2021 and snapping a 53-match home winning streak for the Tigers, the Kansas City Kansas Community College volleyball team has swept the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Volleyball Player of the Week awards with Valentina Rolando, Veronica Rolando, and Sanoma Hunter picking up this week’s honors.

Valentina Rolando (KCKCC) - KJCCC D2 Volleyball Player of the Week
Valentina Rolando led the seventh-ranked Blue Devils to a thrilling five-set win over number two Cowley College with a dominant all-around performance. The freshman recorded 17 kills, hitting .234 on 47 attempts, while adding nine digs and anchoring KCKCC's serve receive with a .921 reception percentage. The win gave Cowley their first home loss since October 2022 and snapped a 53-match home winning streak for the Tigers.

Veronica Rolando (KCKCC) – KJCCC D2 Volleyball Setter of the Week
While running a 6-2 offense, Veronica Rolando was a steady force in KCKCC's five-set win over Cowley College. The sophomore posted 29 assists while adding 10 digs and five service aces to put the Blue Devils in a position to clinch a share of the KJCCC D2 volleyball regular season title this coming week. Rolando's balanced playmaking and strong serving presence helped guide KCKCC to a statement road victory, taking down the Tigers for the first time since March 11, 2021.

Sanoma Hunter (KCKCC) – KJCCC D2 Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Sanoma Hunter was a key defensive presence in KCKCC's five-set victory over Cowley to hand the Tigers their first home loss since October 2022. The sophomore tallied eight total blocks (one solo) and added 12 points while hitting .227 with 5 kills. Anchoring the Blue Devils at the net, Hunter was a crucial piece in forcing Cowley to their sixth-lowest attack percentage in 31 matches this season.
